There are various ways to entertain yourself during this
hot, hot summer....as my children will demonstrate......
You can dress-up in all green, (as a turtle).......
and swing a slinky around wildly!
(This green dress was mine when I was little---
I don't remember wearing it in quite this combination though!)
Wearing the minimal clothing required whenever possible helps beat the heat.....
and adding interesting accessories adds to others' amusement!
"Camp-out in the living room" provides some entertainment.
Making your own ice pops can cool you off....
I'm keeping this photo for blackmail someday!
RyD sneaks out of this crazy house to the garden, whenever possible.....
these beauties are from his endeavors...& they were yummy!
One day we worked on making "school clothes..."
with fabric paints and stencils.
Our budget is tight this year, so I was all game for letting the girls make some of their own designer clothing! And school is just around the corner for us actually...early start this year!
not something I would typically let young children do!
And of course the 4th of July adds its own amusement...
In our small town, no official fireworks this year,
apparently they didn't want to burn down the sagebrush,
but there was a fun BBQ & band...
I only had to wait in line only one full hour for the
free hot dogs and burgers for the famdamily!
And maybe it's just me, but this video clip has little parts all the way through it that make me chuckle...
so I didn't shorten it...a pretty good look at small town entertainment!
....and on a side note, I've just gotta say, that it's moments like these, that make me want to haul Lil' Miss Mae back up to the Children's Hospital, hunt down the head nurse from 8 years ago, that recommended when Lil' Miss Mae was less than a week old, that we should take her off life support because "she would never have any quality of life more than a vegetative state," and just say to her,
"Guess what...YOU WERE WRONG! And God is still doing miracles for her!"
Although, I still don't think I could say or do that in a very Christlike manner, I guess that miracle is yet to come....
Anyhow, a bit repetitive from the previous video clip,
but K-Rae finally got brave enough to join in the "parade":
And since fireworks were technically outlawed this year,
we opted for sparklers,
which I just read in the paper cause more injuries every Independence Day than any other kind of firework!
Hard to see much in the video clip....but the kids declared that
it was their BEST 4th of July Ever!
Yesterday we headed south a bit....
& saw these amazing creatures on the way...
I could've stayed and watched them all day!
Video clip here....
It was so beautiful and nice and cool there...
We went to see a friend of Lil' Miss Mae's...
She's a REAL cowgirl....
She has grown up on this ranch since she was a baby!
She toured us around the ranch and even let the girls
paint and ride her horse "Little Chief,"
Little Chief is from the Navajo Nation----that fact just made Lil' Miss Mae SO excited!
How do you think K-Rae felt about her first time on a real horse????
Quick video of K-Rae riding...
It didn't take her long to say "Look Ma, no hands!!!!!"
Lil Miss Mae is a cowgirl at heart.....she has been on a horse since she was three....
and she didn't want to get off today, she kept signing "one more," for another lap around the coral!
Video clip of Lil' Miss Mae riding...
I was impressed with how little support she actually needed to sit up and stay on!
She made fast friends with the dog, or he made friends with her...
