We have a summer tradition---of escaping....
to a lovely place that's a little bit greener and a whole lot cooler than our desert home.
Activities this year included digging for worms....
...playing in the creek...
(this one should make you proud, Sampa.....she's a logger's granddaughter)
...digging in the sandbox....
Yes, Meemaw, this is the one you invented many years ago! It's still a huge hit!
...and apparently the sand still tastes good!
...doing jigsaw puzzles...
...a bit of 4-wheeling to Bridal Veil Falls...
Lil' Miss Mae LOVED 4-wheeling!
(But this is what Bubba thinks of 4-wheeling....)
...hanging out in the splash zone!
...chasing ducks...
...fishing, which is like a 3-ring circus with Bubba around!
and frying that fish!!!
...playing on the deck...
...looking cute...
...and for Kozy: lots of hiding out under the table; I think he missed his laundry room hideout!
or playing dead works pretty well too, for getting children to ignore you!
...lots and lots and lots of dishes by hand...
my absolute least favorite chore in the whole entire world---
so RyDaddy appeases me and does them at the cabin!
and there's lots of extra "help" with dishes!
...cleaning....
...games...
...reading...
building "fairy furniture," probably should've spent some time sewing some "fairy clothing" too!
...no canoeing this year... the lake had so little water!
& our get-away was shortened by all the smoke in the air from various fires.....
...but we came home to a gorgeous sunset, and 106 degree temperature!
