We spent some time at the family cabin near Telluride. One of the days we were there, Little Miss Mae told RyDaddy on her talker, "I want to eat fish for lunch, please, pretty please Dadda take me fishing!" So we took the girls fishing....well, I went along mostly to be the photographer, bring snacks and make sure no one fell in the water. There's this great little fishing pond for kids in Telluride. Unfortunately, it was just slightly murky the day we decided to go...
All smiles, and excited about the shiny pink Power Bait!
K-Rae is ready to "catch a whale!"
And then the girls got a little bored...."Daddy, can we go play on the playground yet???" After a few times of begging, RyDaddy relented: "OK, let's cast out one more time and then you can go play..."
Well, after that last cast, we both got busy helping Little Miss Mae, and K-Rae had this thing almost on the shore before we noticed!
Not sure who was more proud....Daddy or K-Rae?
She was quite excited to show her catch off to everyone that walked by, and to announce to everyone that she saw in the park, "I caught a fish!!!"
And Little Miss Mae was pretty happy when K-Rae told her, "I caught a fish for you to eat!"
So, we have an annual family tradition of attending the NightVision festival in Olathe, Colorado each year. This is our 6th consecutive year to attend. Basically, it's a two day free festival with some pretty outstanding musical artists each year. For those of you "in the know" on contemporary Christian music, we've seen Third Day, Newsboys, Jeremy Camp, Michael W. Smith, Mercy Me...just to name a few of the amazing bands we've had the privilege to see....and two years ago at the festival, we were introduced to "T-Bone." I really can't say were strong fans of Christian rap music until T-Bone....Little Miss Mae somehow fell head over heals in love with T-Bone and his music though....Here she is two years ago with T-Bone......and she has said on her talker ever since: "My favorite singer is T-Bone. He sings rap music. T-Bone gave me a kiss on the cheek!" Yes, it's true....and T-Bone made her year.
Well, we really didn't keep up with T-Bone for awhile, although he still kept a fond place in Little Miss Mae's heart. And here is a glimpse of the look on Little Miss Mae's face, when the "Mystery Artist" for NightVision this year, was announced as, yes, none other than: T-Bone!
I'm sure our friends wondered what in the world was going on as we recklessly abandoned them and ran down to the front....
As you can see, K-Rae wasn't quite sure what all the hype was about....(w/ Auntie Kara)
Here are some clips from the T-Bone portion of the festival:
Little Miss Mae LOVES T-Bone:
K-Rae, not so sure.....
Here is T-Bone's Fast rap:
And in Spanish:
And in Chinese:
And of course we had to get T-Bone's autograph, and Auntie Kara spoiled Little Miss Mae with her very own T-Bone CD.
And I think Little Miss Mae surprised T-Bone this time by giving him a kiss on the cheek!
Hope to see you next year at the NightVision Festival T-Bone, and thanks for making Little Miss Mae's year again!
So we ordered this walker, hoping it might actually get here in time for school in the fall.....well, it showed up already, and Little Miss Mae loves it and wants to start using it now. I suppose we'll just let her, although she has plenty of room to grow into it!
(It's a "Nurmeo Neo" gait trainer, for those of you interested in those kinds of details.)
And she's also doing a great job walking on her own too.
She is working hard at physical therapy each week to gain the skills she needs to walk!
(For those of you new to the blog, Little Miss Mae has cerebral palsy,
which limits her mobility and speech, but not her determination or sweet spirit!)
Yes, K-Rae requested a "wet dog" party for her birthday.
Fortunately, the weather cooperated with her request.
Painting dogs.
Ice-cream cake was also the request...and Creamie and Grandpa showed up as a special surprise!
And for some insane reason, in case throwing a birthday party wasn't enough, I decided this week would also be a good week to let the girls move into the master bedroom together. This has been talked about for awhile now, but actually pulling it off was way more work than I anticipated. (Thanks for your help RyDaddy and for entertaining the girls Creamie and Grandpa!!!) Here's the final product.....a bunk bed is coming for K-Rae soon, and maybe coordinating furniture at some point....not that they care, that's more for me!
First time to see new room.
Yes, I gave up my huge closet....now they have an official "toy room!"
